Metals

So...Let's talk about Feist.

I bought her new album today. Like, I actually said to myself; 'You must have this immediately' and then I went to the MUSIC STORE WHERE THEY SELL ALBUMS AND I BOUGHT IT.
And...it's freaking amazing.
Feist and I have had a long and loving relationship. She's never let me down. In fact; she's shared innumerable baths and 'bedtimes' with me. She's my girl for heartbreak/heartache/'what the hell is my heart doing'?/'I'm in love'/'I'm scared to death' etc etc etc.
I backed my car out of the driveway earlier tonight, and heard the first notes and lyrics of her new album; and it was gorgeous. I can't recommend it highly enough. This woman knows what she's singing about.

Lisa Eldridge Makeup Artist

So wonderful! All taken from her Gallery. If I can one day be half the makeup artist she is, I will be a very happy Doll. Check out her blog - it's fantastic for die-hard makeup mistresses.

Yunus and Eliza

The genius duo, Yunus and Eliza's piece "Cathedrale To The Self". Honestly!!! This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and I want to wear it and die happy. More from them here.

Tools of Grieving

I stumbled across this guy, and I think his work is really lovely. He makes tools for grieving. Actual objects which the griever can employ to help them get through the physical manifestations of grief. This is what he says about the tear-catcher:
One can record emotional experiences with the ‘single tear catcher’. Tears are stored in the vials, sealed with a cork, attached within the box with a black ribbon and a small scroll with important information is also held above the appropriate vial with a ribbon.
This reminds me a little of the 'worry dolls' I had as a hyper-sensitive child. You whisper a 'worry' to each one before bed and then put them under your pillow, and the subconscious act of giving the worries away is meant to ease anxiety in the worrier. I actually think they did work to an extent, but I find the act of 'storing' and 'recording' one's tearful moments of grief (in so scientific a manner) to be a beautiful project.
This guy (I hate that I don't know his name), has also made 'Husband Stilts' (for wives who lose their husbands and then can't reach things on high shelves), 'Secret Laughter Rings' (for storing the sound/memory of something that made you laugh), and 'Cuticle Protectors' (for nail biters, I assume).

His site is called Grieving Design.

Post Script: I just realised I posted this on Valentines Day. Ha! Tres romantique.

Tomihiro Kono: Hair and Head Prop Artist

I've been putting off sharing about the awesome that is Tomihiro Kono for about 6 months... basically because when I find something that is so unusual and beautiful and special and genius I tend to guard it like a mother hen and protect it in my heart, and spend ages just relishing the hell out of it myself.
BUT in the spirit of Christmas I've decided to share Tomihiro Kono with you... he will be making many an appearance here from now on, so I hope you all appreciate this guy!!
And Happy Christmas one and all!! It's been a lovely year here in Doll-land and it's been a pleasure being friends with so many of you. Stay safe in your travels and be kind to eachother and to yourselves.
Lots of love. xoxo
