Monsoon Wedding
One of my favourite films; I watch it quite often.
I remember seeing it for the first time, one Christmas. All my family asleep in our holiday retreat in Noosa, and me, wide awake, on the couch; basically lip reading the dialogue as I had to keep it down, so as not to disturb anyone. I was totally in love with it.
The line that makes it for me; that I hear in my head in all kinds of instances:
'Without you; everything will break'.
Beautiful.

Sombody to Love
I watched this film ages ago, as I was browsing for something and 'The Coen Brothers' caught my eye. And also; because it looked like it had serious potential to be weird, which I love in a film. I struggled with it the whole way; wanting to keep watching, but wanting something to happen that would actually make me want to watch it the whole way through. And then it got to the scene where the Rabbi quotes Jefferson Airplane. And then I loved it, and thought it was pretty hilarious, and very insightful. So I watched it again :)

Bored To Death
This helped me through the worst of my Bronchitis routine. Except when it made me giggle or laugh hysterically and then I coughed until I cried, but I'd still recommend it :)

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
This trailer does NOT do this film justice... it's like 'Hollywood' got hold of this trailer and decided to pimp it out for 5 years and then scraped it off the gutter from under a bridge somewhere. Vile! But the best I could find.
I remember the first time I saw this film so perfectly; I was utterly wrecked by it. Emotionally, artistically and philosophically in awe.
This film has become a talisman for me; something I believe in with such abandon, that it restores me to 'reality'.
I can't recommend it enough. So beautiful.

I'm Still Here
I'm basically beside myself, wanting to see this film. But I want to watch it with someone who is open-minded and into the context of mocumentaries as much as I am. One of my friends was talking about it, and when I said I longed to see it, he said "Yeah, Ri... think it might upset you". ???
So now I'm even more dying to see it. I think Joaquin Phoenix is an acting genius. Have any of you (my dear readers) seen this? If so, what did you think?

Cat Ballou
It was Dad who arrived home one weekend, having gathered some movies to keep us entertained in the rainy weather, and my bro, sis and I sat riveted in front of Cat Ballou. Word! I sing this to myself in moments of self-doubt, and pretty soon, I'm pepped-up and strutting round with an imaginary holster on my hip. Definitely an alter ego.

Rodarte's costumes for Black Swan.
I literally fail to think of a match made more in heaven than the divine Rodarte costumes, Natalie Portman, ballet and Darren Aronofsky. How rad is it that ballet gets an outing in mainstream cinema?? I hope there's heaps of dancing in it. I hope Natalie is as great as the hype she's getting, I hope Rodarte get an epic legion of fans out of it, as they are just fantastic... Can't wait to see it.

'Gallows' by Cocorosie.
New video for Cocorosie's song 'Gallows'. Directed by Emma Freeman and featuring garments by Gail Sorronda. As some bright spark commented on Youtube 'I want to marry this video', and I couldn't agree more.

"By way of the Green Line Bus"
I'm not sure what it is about this scene. I would greatly appreciate your feedback on it. I've posted it on Facebook a number of times and sent it to friends in emails; I just don't know what it is about it. I'm such a Wes Anderson lover, but, Saints Alive, this scene really nails something for me. I think about it all the time. Just can't quite put my finger on it's greatness. Maybe that's why it's so beautiful to me.

Chanel: The accessories for the "Moscow" pre-fall show 2009.
It's almost 8 minutes long, but worth every second!! I fall asleep dreaming about the headpieces... they're just so BIG!!!

The Dancing Doll from Fellini's Casanova.
I've watched this clip a number of times. I find it surreal, lovely and creepy simultaneously. Enjoy!
