An unfortunate post.

I recently posted about how I was greatly inspired by an episode of Oprah featuring Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. Prior to reading the comment from one reader, I was unaware Mike Tyson was a convicted rapist. I immediately google searched and was horrified to find she was correct. And to answer her comment here - No, Oprah made no mention that Tyson was a convicted rapist. Had there been one, I would never have watched the episode. I apologise for any upset the original post caused my readers; it has been removed.  You will have to believe me when I say that finding out I have unknowingly praised a convicted rapist on this blog is a blow straight through my heart. In light of the matter, I've decided to take an indefinite break from blogging.

Oh Rhiana, please don't let it upset you so. Your apology for your simple, unwitting mistake is enough - there's no need to break from blogging. Hugs to you my sweet xx

I'd totally forgotten about this too. I hope you reconsider the break.

My love, please don't be hard on yourself. I did not read the original post, but I know that you would have written it with that beautiful heart of yours being open and honest. No one who has read this blog would ever believe you would knowingly praise someone like Mike Tyson if you knew the full story. If you need to take a break, then please do so, but know that we will miss you and hope that you come back to us soon. The uniqueness of this blog, the stuff you share with us, well I just love popping over to visit - even when I don't leave a comment. Hugs xxx

Listen to the people. Remove the self imposed banishment immediately. Only light can oppose darkness. And you, my dear, are the light.

Rhiana, don't be ridiculous! You've got to look at blogging as having a convo around the dinner table. We can't always know the facts and we can't always know how our words will sound to other's ears. We just have to say it.

Please don't let it bother you! And, you know what, I think it's important to remember that we live in a society that asks for time for crimes and then forgives when remorse and requested time is received. Perhaps you were right to find the good in this person who has paid his dues and has shown nothing but regret. I'm just saying.

PS - I noticed that you have removed your post. I don't know, but I think I would have edited it to include a postscript expressing what you have learnt and how it has made you feel differently about Mike Tyson. Don't censor yourself, Rhiana. All of your thoughts are what make you special, candid, heartfelt, surprising, delicate, offbeat you.
